OTR Tyres offers wheel and rim inspection, reporting, maintenance, repairs, and certification services for all earthmovers and industrial, truck, bus, and passenger assemblies. Our wheel and rim maintenance service includes:
OTR Tyres offers full tyre and wheel maintenance services for your commercial, industrial or mining fleet, working with you to optimise tyre performance, reduce downtime and improve service delivery.
OTR’s subsidiary company, Tyrefill WA, is the largest solid fill supplier in Western Australia. The process eliminates sudden pressure loss, helps handle overload situations, lowers the machine’s centre of gravity to reduce roll-over possibilities, and improves traction. Once the tyre is filled and fully cured, the chances of tyre failures and blowouts are eliminated, improving on-site safety.
Solid-filling tyres extend their life, making them completely flat-proof and eliminating costly downtime. A polymer fill replaces air in the tyres with a liquid compound that, once cured, makes them impervious to nails, spikes, slag, and rocks.
Tyrefill WA only uses Carpenters' world-leading Rely® T-25 compound, which is proven to reduce solid shock and give drivers the same ride as pneumatic tyres.
To prepare the rim for NDT, we conduct a visual inspection to determine whether there is any obvious damage that would prevent the rim from re-certification.
Once the rims have been visually inspected and no obvious damage has been identified, they are sandblasted to return to bare metal, where they can undergo uninterrupted NDT.
Once the rim has been returned to bare metal, the NDT technicians examine the properties of the rim materials to identify any corrosion, cracks, burrs and other imperfections that might prohibit the rim from performing at optimal capacity. The two most frequently utilised non-destructive testing methods at OTR Tyres are Ultrasonic and Magnetic Particle Testing.
We carry substantial wheel section stock, ranging from 33″ through to 63″, allowing for the replacement of wheel sections if major indications are detected throughout the NDT process.
Once all major repairs have been completed, any minor hand repairs are undertaken to improve the wheel's appearance and prepare for painting.
The final stage of the certification process is painting. Once the rim has been dressed and any slight imperfections removed, the wheel is painted to OEM spec, tagged or stamped with identification information as requested by the customer, palletised, and ready for return.
